A key goal of this research was to design and track the performance of an economical and effective industrial wastewater treatment system, incorporating sand, fly ash, and hearth ash. Our investigation focused on (1) describing the link between damselfly wing lengths and a gradient of forest fragmentation and (2) determining the spatial magnitude at which these morphological variations are observed. We proposed that local adaptation would produce phenotypic variations in wing structures across limited geographic zones. The present investigation tests the supposition that spatial autocorrelation in wing morphology would be evident at short distances, as required by the hypothesis. We project a connection between the shape of wings and the division of forest habitat. Across Indiana, USA, we collected jewelwing damselflies from diverse habitats, ranging from intact forests to highly fragmented ones. Using three biologically relevant landscape sizes, we investigated the relationship between forest edge density and wing length. The spatial autocorrelation of wing length variation was measured with Moran's I; the results unveiled positive linear or unimodal patterns in relation to edge density across all three landscape scales in both sexes. The spatial autocorrelation of wing length revealed a pattern of autocorrelated variation in wing length extending over short distances, from 1 to 5 kilometers.
